Out East Porsche Club Meet – Sun 21st Apr 2019

I think my 48 year old 911 is magically mutating into a Plug-In-Hybrid! The Yellow Peril only seems to start reliably if both of Mr Bosch’s best batteries are brimful of volts ……….. which can be a little inconvenient at times.

Thankfully – removal of the batteries and a couple of days of trickle charging revived them sufficiently to resuscitate the slumbering Peril to get me to (and from) the Third Sunday In The Month sojourn to the Porsche Club’s Far-East(er) meet (Hackney Wick almost qualifies as being oriental).

Goodwood 77th Members Meeting – Sun 7th April 2019

An increase in the hours of daylight and reported sightings of sunshine could only mean one thing. Time to don the de-rigueur Fifty-Textures-of-Tweed country casual combo and put my best brown-brogue’d foot forward to attend the Goodwood 77th MM.

Just to flat-cap it all – mustn’t forget the tweed titfer-tat!

Out East – Porsche Club Meet – Sun 17th Mar 2019

“Sunny intervals AM to be followed by thunder, lightning and hail storms PM”. An early morning drive in the Yellow Peril beckoned in order to attend the PCGB Out East monthly meet at Beachy Road and Stour Road.

Out East! Porsche Club Meet – Sun 18th Nov 2018

Mild and sunny November weather was the final enticement I needed to go Out East with the Yellow Peril.

Nick and Ed Pike (organisers of the Porsche Club London Region) hunted down this great venue some months back and the 3rd Sunday in the month meet seems to have become very popular with club members. It’s far less frenetic than the former Smithfield venue i.e. no stroppy traffic wardens!

Brands Hatch Festival Of Porsche – Sun 2nd Sep 2018

The 70th Anniversary of the first Porsche production car had the highly beneficial side-effect of reviving the Brands Hatch Festival of Porsche.

Brands is a lovely compact circuit that’s easily and quickly accessible from London and unlike some of the airfield based circuits (e.g. Silverstone and Goodwood) it offers excellent viewing opportunities over large parts of the circuit without having to walk too far.

Chattering Butterflies – Sat 1st Sep 2018

Whilst listening closely to the Yellow Peril’s engine earlier this week (as you do) – I noticed a bit of a mechanical clattering noise coming from left hand throttle body as I revved the engine using the throttle linkage.

This odd noise and the fact that the engine had gone a bit off-song since its trip to Le Mans Classic in early July prompted me to arrange a visit to see Steve Winter at Jaz Porsche for his expert opinion.

Le Mans Classic – 6th, 7th and 8th Jul 2018

A visit to Le Mans Classic has long eluded me but this year all barriers and sensible-head reasons-not-to-go seemed to disappear.

The Yellow Peril was running well (bar a last minute clutch change) and the problem of abandoning the Mrs for a long weekend to go off on a car related jolly was resolved by taking her along .

Luftgekühlt GB – Sun 29th Jul 2018

After what has seemed like an eternity of positively tropical (by British standards) weather – it was something of a tragedy that rain arrived in abundance over the weekend of the first Luftgekühlt GB meeting at Bicester Heritage Centre!

To paraphrase John Cooper Clarke – “the weather was just like the brothers……………………Grimm”!

Porsche 356 International (Hedingham) – Fri 4th May 2018

With this year’s 356 International Event being hosted in the UK – it was essential to attended at least one of their many outings in order to see such a large concentration of these wonderful vehicles.

The gathering at Castle Hedingham seemed like the best option with it’s beautiful setting and the added bonus of some mediaeval jousting!
